As more truck manufacturers release new electric models, 2022 is lining up to be a fascinating year for truck aficionados for sure. Going electric is a great method to decrease emissions, but the latest electric pickups on the market today also offer some impressive features and longer driving ranges. Rivian R1T

Pricing: Starting from $67,500

Release Date: Available now but 400 miles of range is expected for 2022

It is the first fully electric pickup truck to hit the market. The Rivian R1T features a powerful engine and can carry up to five passengers. Rivian’s R1T base model has a 135-kwh battery pack with a 300-mile range, while the 180-kwh pack expected in 2022 will have a 400-mile range and hitting 60 mph in 3.0 seconds. Powered by four electric motors, each producing 415 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque at a front axle and 420 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque at the rear axle, and remarkably capable with a towing capacity of 11,000 lb, an air suspension, as well as more than 50 different drive mode configurations. Rivian also plans to unveil a new R1T model with a range of roughly 250 miles. The Rivian R1T has a starting price of $67,500. 

GMC Hummer EV

The Lightning is only available in a crew cab configuration with four doors and five seats. Intelligent Backup Power, a new feature that can provide 9.6 kW of energy for usage by a home, tools, or appliances, is one of the most impressive new features. Nearly 200,000 reservations have been placed for the Ford F-150 Lightning. Because of the high demand, the company has ceased taking reservations. 

Lordstown Endurance

Pricing: Starting from $52,500

Release Date: 2022

It is an American electric pickup start-up brand. The Endurance model from Lordstown Motors is noteworthy since the business intends to target the commercial-vehicle market with its pickup truck, rather than general motorists. A fast charger can charge the 109 kWh batteries in 30 to 90 minutes, giving them a range of 250 miles or more. The truck will have a towing capability of 7500 pounds and a max horsepower of 600. The Endurance pickup truck is one of a kind since it is propelled by four in-wheel motors. Lordstown Motors Corp has been having financial problems, but new investment appears to be putting things right. Atlis XT

Owners of the XT Pickup truck will have the option of a 300,400, or 500-mile battery pack, with capacities ranging from 125 to 250 kWh. At the wheels, a maximum torque of 12,000 ft. lbs. will be available. 

Chevrolet Silverado EV

Pricing:  $39,900 to $106,695

Release Date: Spring 2023 (WT trim), base and top trims arriving in 2024.

Chevrolet’s new electric pickup truck, the Silverado EV, will be available in a base model for work fleets and will be powered by GM’s Ultium battery pack. This entry-level model will be delivered in 2024 and will cost little under $40,000 before landing charges. At least two distinct Ultium battery pack configurations will be offered for the Chevy Silverado EV. Perhaps one of them will be a 24-module unit, most likely related to the largest battery pack in the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. It will have a 200-kilowatt-hour energy storage capacity, which is enough to provide GM’s estimated range of 400 miles or more. With 350 kW of peak charging capacity, the company estimates that 10 minutes of DC charging will cover a distance of around 100 miles. It will have 510 horsepower in its base trim and 664 horsepower in the RST trim. It will face up against the Ford F-150 Lightning, which will go on sale in the United States this spring. 

Tesla Cybertruck

Pricing: While the Tesla Cybertruck was initially announced with a starting price of $39,900, Tesla recently removed the pricing information from its website. 

Release Date: Early in the year 2023

The Tesla Cybertruck is a one-of-a-kind electric pickup truck from Tesla. According to the most recent estimations, the dual and tri-motor Cybertrucks will be available in 2022, while the less expensive single-motor Cybertruck will be available in late 2023. The Cybertruck single, double, and triple-motor variants start at $39,900, $49,900, and $69,900, respectively, with 0-60mph times of 6.5, 4.5, and 2.9 seconds, respectively. With sharp edges and a structural skin constructed of Ultra-hard 30x Cold-rolled stainless steel, this vehicle has a unique design. It also has Tesla armour glass, which is nearly impervious to damage. The driving range is estimated to be between 250 and 500 miles, with the most powerful models travelling the farthest. 

Hercules Alpha

Hercules Electric Vehicles is a new company based in Detroit which was founded in December 2018 that plans to launch an all-electric pickup truck called the Hercules Alpha on the market. It will have a range of over 300 miles (483 kilometers) and a quad-motor, all-wheel-drive system capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph (96.5 km/h) in under four seconds. The Alpha will be available with one, two, or four motors, with power output aiming for 1,000 hp and 1,085Nm for the latter, with single motor options aiming for 262 hp and twin-motor versions 550 hp. 

Fisker Alaska

Pricing: Currently Unknown

Release Date: Unknown

Henrik Fisker seemed ecstatic to offer a rear view of a potential future Fisker pickup truck in a tweet with the caption “Electric pick up!” but it was shortly deleted. However, no additional mention of this probable future pickup truck was ever made, thus there are no specifics to share. 

Alpha Wolf

Pricing: Starts at $36,000

Release Date: Deliveries are expected to commence in late 2023.

The Wolf electric pickup truck has been unveiled by Alpha Motor Corporation, a California-based EV startup. The Wolf will come in two versions: single-cab and extended-cab Wolf Plus. Both vehicles are based on the same electric vehicle technology concept, with single or dual motor drive systems and a range of 250-275 miles per charge. No power figures have been released, however 0-60 mph is said to take 5.9 seconds. Alpha hasn’t decided on a battery pack size for the Wolf yet, or doesn’t want to say, but it will be between 75 and 85 kWh. The price will start at $36,000.

Canoo Electric Pickup Truck

Pricing: $34,750 to $49,950

Release Date: Early 2023

Canoo, a Los Angeles-based electric vehicle company, has created another creative electric pickup design. The Canoo electric pickup truck will be 184 inches (4.67 meters) long, 78 inches (1.98 meters)wide, 76 inches (1.92 meters)  tall, and have a wheelbase of 112.2 inches (2.85 meters). That implies it’s far smaller than most pickup trucks marketed in the United States. The battery pack’s size isn’t specified, but Canoo claims it will have a range of more than 200 miles. The ground clearance has not been specified, however the pickup truck will be equipped with 260/60 R18 tires. Canoo previously stated that its vehicles would feature 40 kWh, 60 kWh, and 80 kWh batteries, with ranges of 130,190, and 230 miles, respectively.
